Proton Huber Competition ends Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season in Monza

Proton Huber Competition’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season ended in Monza with Theo Oeverhaus scoring important points.

The season finale of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup took place on September 7 on the high-speed circuit in Monza, Italy. Proton Huber Competition fielded four cars, with regular drivers Theo Oeverhaus, Jaap van Lagen, and Gus Burton joined by Austrian Horst Felix Felbermayr, who already has a lot of experience with the team.

During the race, Porsche Junior Oeverhaus was involved in fierce battles with two or more competitors. The driver from Osnabrück, who is also a member of the ADAC Sports Foundation’s development squad, finished the race in sixth place, thereby securing more important points.

The race began with a bitter setback for the team from Hofkirchen in Bavaria. After an unfortunate chain reaction, van Lagen and Felbermayr crashed heavily in the first Lesmo corner on the opening lap. Both survived the accident uninjured. Gus Burton had already retired earlier.

This brings to an end a somewhat difficult season for the Bavarian team in the traditional one-make series, which nevertheless had some highlights. Theo Oeverhaus won the season opener in Imola, Italy, and then finished on the podium in the Principality of Monaco. He regularly collected points throughout the year – most recently with sixth place in Monza. Team mate Jaap van Lagen also contributed to the team’s performance with strong individual results. In addition to setting fastest times in practice, he recorded a top-five finish at his home race in Zandvoort.

As Proton Huber Competition’s best driver, Theo Oeverhaus finished the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup season in eighth place in the standings. The Bavarian racing team took fifth place in the team standings.

„We got off to a strong start, perhaps even better than we and many of us expected. We faced many challenges over the course of the season, but we didn’t give up. It was nice to see us achieve a few more highlights at the end of the season, even if we lacked that little bit of luck to make it perfect,“ said Michael Dirsch, who heads the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup program at Proton Huber Competition, summarizing the season.

Planning for the 2026 championship in Hofkirchen is already underway. Exciting innovations await the participants with a new race car. “We are looking forward to next year, because with a new car, the cards will be completely reshuffled,” Dirsch concluded.
