Proton Competition forced to pull out of the 24 Hours of Barcelona

Due to a bike accident involving Jörg Dreisow, Proton Competition has been forced to pull out of the 24 Hours of Barcelona and will be unable to defend its title.

Proton Competition’s season in the 24H Series has come to a premature end, as the team has had to withdraw from the 24 Hours of Barcelona. Regular driver Jörg Dreisow was injured in a bike accident and will therefore be unable to compete in the endurance race on the outskirts of the Spanish metropolis.

Last year, the team from Hofkirchen in Bavaria claimed overall victory in the race, securing the title in both the GT3 overall standings and the GT3 Pro-Am class in the series. Consequently, the team was feeling confident about taking part in this year’s 24 Hours of Barcelona.

After four out of five races, Proton Competition currently occupies second place in the championship standings in the GT3 Pro-Am class. The team secured victory in the class at the 12-hour races at Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring.

“For us, as defending champions in the 24H Series, it was a very difficult decision to withdraw from the 24 Hours of Barcelona. But sometimes there are things more important than racing: I had a bike accident and am therefore unable to take part, as I still need to recover. Many thanks to the whole team for their hard work throughout the season, which we would have loved to cap off with a top result in Barcelona. With class victories at Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring, we can once again look back on strong results this year – next year we’ll be back, confident and motivated!” said Jörg Dreisow regarding the withdrawal from the Barcelona race.
