Proton Huber Competition put in a strong performance at the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Zandvoort.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The penultimate race weekend of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup took place on the Dutch dune circuit in Zandvoort. Proton Huber Competition fielded four Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars on the traditional circuit. In addition to regular drivers Theo Oeverhaus, Jaap van Lagen and Gus Burton, Sweden’s Daniel Ros also competed for the team, having already raced with them in the Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local hero Jaap van Lagen achieved his best result of the season so far. He set the fastest lap in practice and qualified in an impressive sixth place. In the race, the Dutch veteran moved up one place to fifth, much to the delight of the Dutch fans. For van Lagen, it was his best result of the season in the popular one-make series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaap van Lagen summed up his weekend in front of an impressive crowd: „It was a good weekend for us! I was able to make my mark right from the start by taking first place in practice on a very dirty track. My first qualifying lap was very good, so I thought it might be enough for a top-three finish. Unfortunately, I couldn’t improve on the second set of tyres and slipped back to sixth place. I had a good start to the race and was able to move up one place. The top five is always my goal, so I’m happy with the result. A big thank you to the whole team. Now I’m looking forward to Monza, where we had a good test, and I hope to end the season on a high there.“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Porsche Junior Theo Oeverhaus had to start the race from twelfth place after a difficult qualifying session. But in the race, the Osnabr\u00fcck native made up several positions with a strong driving performance. The ADAC Sports Foundation prot\u00e9g\u00e9 fought his way up to seventh place in the race and was able to score important points. Theo Oeverhaus sums up the race weekend: \u2018We had good race pace and took a few important steps in the right direction over the weekend. For Monza, it’s crucial that we’re already at the front in qualifying.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gus Burton and Daniel Ros were also able to improve from difficult starting positions in the race and finished in 16th and 17th place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

„Practice was mixed because the track was very dirty and there wasn’t much to learn, but that changed in qualifying, which the drivers noticed immediately. Jaap was able to drive a really strong lap on the first set of tyres, but unfortunately couldn’t improve on the second. Nevertheless, it was enough for a strong sixth place on the grid. Theo, Gus and Daniel had more to contend with, which was reflected in their positions,\u2018 summarises Michael Dirsch, who heads the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup programme at Proton Huber Competition. \u2019We were hoping for rain for the race, as that makes driving talent even more important. Things turned out differently, but our engineers did a great job. Every driver was able to make up positions and score important points for themselves and the team.“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The season finale of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will take place this coming weekend in Monza, Italy. Proton Huber Competition will once again field four cars on the high-speed circuit in northern Italy. Horst Felix Felbermayr, who has already competed in many races with the team from Hofkirchen, will drive the fourth car. \u2018For Monza, we would like to find a conclusion that does justice to the hard work of the entire team at the track and also at home,\u2019 concluded Michael Dirsch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
