Proton Competition had a difficult race weekend at the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland at Spa-Francorchamps, but remains comfortably in the lead in the team standings.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that the team was able to hold on to the top of the table was down to their tremendous fighting spirit \u2013 thanks in part to Marcus Amand. The Porsche Junior made up more than 20 places on Saturday and secured valuable points by finishing eleventh. The young talent was thus playing damage control following a bitter setback in qualifying. Due to a technical problem, Amand was unable to set a time and had to start from the back of the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keagan Masters also tried to play damage control. He retired unluckily in the first race, but in the second race he scored enough points with an eighth-place finish to retain third place in the drivers\u2019 standings. After three rounds of the season, the South African thus remains among the title contenders in the fiercely contested one-make cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team is also in a promising position in the team standings. Despite a difficult race weekend in the Ardennes, Proton Competition continues to lead the table. The team has a 24-point lead over its closest rival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the rookie standings, Dylan Yip and Gustav Bergstr\u00f6m were once again in combative form. Both drivers demonstrated their talent on the demanding undulating track in Belgium, but were unable to build on the positive results of the first races of the season. Their team-mate Daniel Ros, meanwhile, managed to finish in the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUnfortunately, the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps didn\u2019t go as we had hoped. We will now analyse in detail why we lacked speed and how the engine failure with Marcus and the door lock issue with Keagan came about. We are working hard to ensure we come back stronger at Zandvoort,\u201d said Michael Dirsch, who heads up the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland programme. The team will have its next chance for redemption as early as this coming weekend, when the fourth race weekend takes place in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
