Lone Star Le Mans next up for Proton Competition at Ford’s home race

The FIA World Endurance Championship enters the second half of the 2026 season with a standout event for Proton Competition and Ford: the Lone Star Le Mans six-hour race at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (4 to 6 September). Christian and Michael Ried’s team travel to Texas with plenty of confidence, having secured pole position and a top-6 finish here last year.

Proton Competition will once again field a pair of Ford Mustang LMGT3, each of which feature a US driver with the chance to race in front of a bumper home crowd. Piloting the #88 machine will be Logan Sargeant alongside last year’s polesitters Giammarco Levorato and Stefano Gattuso.

In the #77 car, Eric Powell will be teaming up with Sebastian Priaulx and Ben Tuck and is looking forward to the chance to race in the United States, not least because he has experience at COTA: “This first year racing internationally has been incredible, but I am very much looking forward to getting back on home soil for both me and Ford. COTA is the only track on the WEC calendar that I have prior experience with, so having that familiarity is a huge plus. We’ve had some real highlights in recent rounds and we hope to continue that momentum.”

Momentum is the key word, with both Proton Competition cars having recorded their best results of the season last time out at the 6 Hours of São Paulo. With Lone Star Le Mans marking the fifth of eight rounds in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the team will be pushing hard for strong finishes and valuable championship points as the season enters its decisive phase.

The half-hour LMGT3 qualifying session takes place at 15:00 local time on Saturday (22:00 CEST), before the race goes green on Sunday at 13:00 local time (20:00 CEST). Fans can catch all the action from both sessions live via the FIA WEC app.
