Silverstone<\/em> \u2013 Arbeitsreicher Saisonauftakt in Silverstone: F\u00fcr die Proton-Teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG steht am 17. April auf dem britischen Traditionskurs der erste Lauf der\u00a0 Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC auf dem Programm. Bereits am Tag davor beginnt f\u00fcr Proton Competition die European Le Mans Series ELMS. In beiden Meisterschaften sind die Teams mit dem 470 PS starken Porsche 911 RSR in den hart umk\u00e4mpften GT-Klassen am Start.<\/p>\n

Dempsey Proton Racing:<\/strong> Mit Porsche-Werksfahrer Richard Lietz (\u00d6sterreich), der\u00a0 als weltbester GT-Fahrer 2015 den FIA Endurance Cup in der WEC gewonnen hat, startet Dempsey Proton Racing in die Saison. Einer der Teilhaber des Teams ist Patrick Dempsey. Der US-Rennfahrer und Hollywoodstar begeistert in der Krankenhausserie \u201eGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201c Fans in aller Welt. Der zweite Fahrer im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 77 ist der d\u00e4nische Porsche-Werksfahrer Michael Christensen.<\/p>\n

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing:<\/strong> Im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 88 stellen sich Porsche-Werksfahrer Patrick Long (USA) und Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) in der Klasse GTE-Am der starken Konkurrenz. Als dritter Fahrer unterst\u00fctzt sie der D\u00e4ne David Heinemeier Hansson, im Hauptberuf erfolgreicher Programmierer und Autor des popul\u00e4ren Frameworks \u201eRuby on Rails\u201c. In Silverstone wird Patrick Long durch den ehemaligen Porsche-Junior Klaus Bachler (\u00d6sterreich) vertreten.<\/p>\n

KCMG:<\/strong> Das Team aus Hongkong tritt in dieser Saison erstmals in der Klasse GTE-Am an. Neben dem erfahrenen Porsche-Werksfahrer Wolf Henzler (N\u00fcrtingen) sind im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 78 Christian Ried (Sch\u00f6neb\u00fcrg) und der Schweizer Joel Camathias am Start.<\/p>\n

Proton Competition:<\/strong> Das Team setzt zwei Porsche 911 RSR in der Klasse GTE der ELMS ein. Das Fahrertrio der Startnummer 77 bilden Marco Seefried (Wildsch\u00f6nau), Mike Hedlund (USA) und Renger van der Zande (Niederlande), f\u00fcr den in Silverstone allerdings Wolf Henzler f\u00e4hrt. Mit der Startnummer 88 gehen Richard Lietz, Christian Ried und Gianluca Roda (Italien) in die Rennen.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Porsche-Motorsportchef:<\/strong> \u201eNach unserer Erfolgssaison 2015 mit dem Gewinn von drei GT-Meistertiteln unterst\u00fctzen wir 2016 unser Kundenteam Dempsey Proton Racing beim Einsatz des 911 RSR in der WEC. Die Mannschaft von Proton Competition, die hinter diesem Team steht, ist seit Jahren ein zuverl\u00e4ssiger und erfolgreicher Partner von Porsche. So hat sie 2009 und 2010 mit dem 911 GT3 RSR den GT-Titel in der European Le Mans Series gewonnen. Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass Dempsey Proton Racing mit unseren Werksfahrern Richard Lietz und Michael Christensen in dieser Saison trotz der starken Konkurrenz f\u00fcr die eine oder andere \u00dcberraschung sorgen kann.\u201c
\nMichael Ried, Eigner Proton Competition:<\/strong> \u201eWir wollen in dieser Saison an unsere Erfolge aus dem Vorjahr ankn\u00fcpfen. Ein Sieg in Fuji, dazu die zweiten Pl\u00e4tze bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans, auf dem N\u00fcrburgring und in Bahrain \u2013 das war unsere Bilanz 2015. Um diese nach M\u00f6glichkeit noch zu verbessern, haben wir \u00fcber den Winter intensiv gearbeitet und freuen uns jetzt auf die ersten Rennen in der WEC und der ELMS. Durch den Start in beiden Meisterschaften wird das Silverstone-Wochenende f\u00fcr das ganze Team sicherlich sehr stressig. Doch wir sind gut vorbereitet und voll motiviert. Wir packen das.\u201c
\nRichard Lietz (Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201eAls Titelverteidiger in die Saison zu starten, ist schon etwas Besonderes. Unsere gro\u00dfe Herausforderung in den ersten Rennen wird sein, uns als Team schnell aneinander zu gew\u00f6hnen und zusammen die Voraussetzungen f\u00fcr eine gute Performance auf der Rennstrecke zu schaffen. Wo wir stehen, wissen wir erst nach Silverstone. Dort treten wir mit unserer bew\u00e4hrten Technik gegen die starke Konkurrenz der anderen gro\u00dfen Werke an, die mit neuen Autos kommen und zumindest von der Papierform her st\u00e4rker sind als wir. Doch wir freuen uns auf einen spannenden Kampf und werden versuchen, den einen oder anderen Nadelstich zu setzen. Nach der ganzen Testarbeit bin ich froh, dass die Saison jetzt endlich los geht.\u201c
\nMichael Christensen (Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201eIch freue mich auf meine zweite WEC-Saison und die Zusammenarbeit mit der erfahrenen Mannschaft von Dempsey Proton Racing. Der Saisonauftakt in Silverstone ist f\u00fcr mich etwas Besonderes. Ich mag die Strecke sehr, war dort schon mit vielen verschiedenen Fahrzeugen unterwegs und habe mich immer wohl gef\u00fchlt. \nWolf Henzler (Porsche 911 RSR #78):<\/strong> Eine volle Saison in der WEC zu fahren ist f\u00fcr mich eine neue interessante Herausforderung, auf die ich mich sehr freue. Nach elf Rennjahren mit Porsche in den USA, die ich sehr genossen habe, wird es aber auch Zeit f\u00fcr eine neue Erfahrung. In Silverstone bin ich zuletzt vor drei Jahren in der European Le Mans Series gefahren. Eine tolle Strecke. Ich hoffe nur, dass es nicht zu kalt ist, denn sonst ist es nicht einfach, die Reifen auf die optimale Temperatur zu bringen.\u201c
\nChristian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR #78):<\/strong> \u201eMit den Erfahrungen aus dem Vorjahr starten wir zuversichtlich in die neue Saison. Wir sind gut vorbereitet und freuen uns auf das erste Rennen. Silverstone ist eine tolle Strecke mit vielen schnellen Ecken. Besonders interessant wird es nat\u00fcrlich, wenn es regnet. \nKlaus Bachler (Porsche 911 RSR #88):<\/strong> \u201eIch freue mich darauf, beim Saisonauftakt der WEC in Silverstone wieder f\u00fcr Abu Dhabi Proton Racing fahren zu d\u00fcrfen. Ich werde mein Bestes geben, um Patrick Long gut zu vertreten und mit dazu beizutragen, dass das Team einen guten Start in die neue Saison erwischt.\u201c<\/p>\n

Die Rennstrecke<\/strong>
\nDer 5,901 Kilometer lange Silverstone Circuit mit so legend\u00e4ren Kurven wie Becketts, Copse und Stowe ist, eingebettet in einen supermodernen Motorsportkomplex, eine der traditionsreichsten Rennstrecken der Welt. Am 13. Mai 1950 fand hier das erste Formel-1-Rennen der neueren Grand-Prix-Geschichte statt.<\/p>\n

Das Auto<\/strong>
\nDer 470 PS starke Porsche 911 RSR, mit dem die Teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG in der WEC am Start sind, basiert auf der siebten Generation der Sportwagenikone 911. Das Siegerauto der Langstreckenklassiker in Le Mans, Daytona und Sebring ist der schnellste Neunelfer aller Zeiten und zeichnet sich durch konsequenten Leichtbau und eine ausgefeilte Aerodynamik aus. F\u00fcr die Saison 2016 wurde es in verschiedenen Details \u00fcberarbeitet, vor allem bei der Aerodynamik.<\/p>\n

Live im TV<\/strong>
\nDas Sechsstundenrennen in Silverstone startet am Sonntag, 17. April, um 12.00 Uhr Ortszeit (13.00 Uhr MESZ). Eurosport \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt von 17.00 bis 19.15 Uhr MESZ die letzten zwei Rennstunden sowie die Siegerehrung live.<\/p>\n

Die Serie<\/strong>
\nIn der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der stark besetzten Klasse GTE-Pro gegen Aston Martin, Ford und Ferrari an. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG fahren in der Klasse GTE-Am gegen Aston Martin, Chevrolet und Ferrari. Analog dazu sind in der European Le Mans Series die Klassen LMP2, LMP3 und GTE am Start. Proton Competition startet in der Klasse GTE.<\/p>\n

Silverstone<\/em> \u2013 Work-intensive season kick-off in Silverstone: For the Proton teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG, the first round of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship WEC is scheduled on April 17 on the tradition-rich course in Britain. For Proton Competition, the European Le Mans Series ELMS starts already one day earlier. The teams start in both championships with the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS in the highly competitive GT classes.<\/p>\n

Dempsey Proton Racing:<\/strong> Dempsey Proton Racing starts in the new season with Porsche works driver Richard Lietz (Austria), who won the FIA Endurance Cup in the WEC as the world\u2019s best GT driver in 2015. One of the members of the team is Patrick Dempsey. The US race driver and Hollywood star thrills fans all over the world in the medical series \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d. The second driver in the Porsche 911 RSR with starting number 77 is the Danish Porsche works driver Michael Christensen.<\/p>\n

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing:<\/strong> In the Porsche 911 RSR with starting number 88, Porsche works driver Patrick Long (USA) and Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) compete in the GTE-Am class with the strong competition. The Dane David Heinemeier Hansson, who is a successful programmer and creator of the popular framework \u201cRuby on Rails\u201d, supports them as third driver. In Silverstone, former Porsche junior Klaus Bachler (Austria) will stand in for Patrick Long.<\/p>\n

KCMG:<\/strong> The team from Hong Kong starts for the first time in the GTE-Am class in the current season. Together with the experienced Porsche works driver Wolf Henzler (N\u00fcrtingen), Christian Ried (Sch\u00f6neb\u00fcrg) and the Swiss Joel Camathias are at the start in the Porsche 911 RSR with starting number 78.<\/p>\n

Proton Competition:<\/strong> The team uses two Porsche 911 RSR in the GTE class of the ELMS. The driver trio with starting number 77 consists of Marco Seefried (Wildsch\u00f6nau), Mike Hedlund (USA) and Renger van der Zande (Netherlands), who will be replaced by Wolf Henzler in Silverstone, however. Richard Lietz, Christian Ried and Gianluca Roda (Italy) will start with starting number 88.<\/p>\n

\nDr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Head of Porsche Motor Sports:<\/strong> \u201cAfter winning three GT championship titles in our successful season 2015, we support our client\u2019s team Dempsey Proton Racing in 2016 in using the 911 RSR in the WEC. The team of Proton Competition, which stands behind this team, has been a reliable and successful partner of Porsche for several years. In 2009 and 2010, it won the GT title in the European Le Mans Series with the 911 GT3 RSR. Our biggest challenge in the first races will be to get used to each other as a team rapidly and to create the conditions for a good performance on the race track together. We use our proven technology to compete with the strong competition of the other big manufacturers there, which come with new cars and are stronger than we are at least according to the formbook. But we are looking forward to an exciting race, and we will try to cause one or another surprise. After the whole testing work, I am glad that the season will start soon.\u201d
\nMichael Christensen (Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to my second WEC season and the cooperation with the experienced team of Dempsey Proton Racing. \nWolf Henzler (Porsche 911 RSR #78):<\/strong> \u201cDriving a full season in the WEC is a new, interesting challenge for me \u2013 and I\u2019m very much looking forward to it. After eleven years of racing with Porsche in the USA, which I enjoyed very much, it is now also time for a new experience, however. I drove the last time in Silverstone three years ago in the European Le Mans Series. A great circuit. I only hope that it won\u2019t be too cold, or else it won\u2019t be easy to bring the tires to the optimal temperature.\u201d
\nChristian Ried (Porsche 911 RSR #78):<\/strong> \u201cWith last year\u2019s experiences, we start in the new season optimistically. We are well prepared and are looking forward to the first race. Silverstone is a great circuit with many fast corners. It\u2019s especially interesting when it rains, of course. Two races on this circuit at one weekend \u2013 this is a big challenge for everyone.\u201d

The circuit<\/strong>
\nThe 5.901 kilometers long Silverstone Circuit with legendary corners such as Becketts, Copse and Stowe is embedded in an ultramodern motor sport complex and one of the race circuits in the world with the longest tradition. On May 13, 1950, the first Formula 1 race of the recent Grand Prix history took place there.<\/p>\n

The car<\/strong>
\nThe teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG are going to start in the WEC with the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS, which is based on the seventh generation of the iconic 911 sports car. The winning car of classic endurance races in Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring is the fastest 911 of all times and is characterized by consistent lightweight construction and sophisticated aerodynamics. For the season 2016, it was reengineered concerning various details, especially aerodynamics.<\/p>\n

Live on TV<\/strong>
\nThe six hours race in Silverstone is going to start on Sunday, April 17 at 12 noon local time (1 p.m. CEST). From 5 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., Eurosport is going to broadcast the last two hours of the race as well as the podium ceremony live.<\/p>\n

The series<\/strong>
\nIn the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), sports prototypes and GT cars start in four classes: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro and GTE-Am. They all drive together in one race, but are rated separately. Dempsey Proton Racing competes against Aston Martin, Ford and Ferrari with the Porsche 911 RSR in the strong GTE-Pro class. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG race against Aston Martin, Chevrolet and Ferrari in the GTE-Am class. Analogously, in the European Le Mans Series, the classes LMP2, LMP3 and GTE are at the start. Proton Competition starts in the GTE class.<\/p>\n
