\u201eIn Spa werden wir viel besser aussehen\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n

Silverstone<\/em> \u2013 Einen Saisonstart mit H\u00f6hen und Tiefen erlebten die Proton-Teams bei den Auftaktrennen der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC und der European Le Mans Series ELMS in Silverstone. Auf dem Traditionskurs in den britischen Midlands zeigten sie mit den 470 PS starken Porsche 911 RSR \u00fcber weite Strecke eine starke Leistung und hatten beste Chancen auf eine Podiumsplatzierung \u2013 das war das Ziel, mit dem die Teams auf die Insel gereist sind. In der WEC sah es auch ganz danach aus, als w\u00fcrde dieser Wunsch in Erf\u00fcllung gehen. Mit dem 911 RSR von Dempsey Proton Racing lagen Titelverteidiger Richard Lietz und Michael Christensen lange auf dem zweiten Platz in der Klasse GTE-Pro. Eine Stunde vor dem Ziel hatten sich in der Klasse GTE-Am Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG die Doppelf\u00fchrung erk\u00e4mpft. Doch am Ende hat es keines der Teams in die Top 3 geschafft.<\/p>\n

Stimmen nach dem Rennen<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201eSo hatten wir uns den Start in die neue Saison nicht vorgestellt. Wir waren gut vorbereitet und hatten uns zumindest ausgerechnet, um ein Podium k\u00e4mpfen zu k\u00f6nnen. Im WEC-Rennen lagen wir nach einem guten Start auch lange auf dem zweiten Platz. Doch dann mussten wir an die Box und fielen weit zur\u00fcck. Die Chance auf einen Podiumsplatz, die wir vorher auf jeden Fall hatten, war dadurch nat\u00fcrlich weg. Trotzdem \u2013 unser 911 RSR war sehr gut abgestimmt und schnell. Auch das Team hat hervorragend gearbeitet. Schade, dass es daf\u00fcr nicht mit einem guten Ergebnis belohnt wurde.\u201c<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen (WEC, Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201eNach der guten Leistung, die wir im Qualifying gezeigt haben, hatten wir uns f\u00fcr das Rennen viel vorgenommen. Doch dann hatten wir ein Problem, das die Ingenieure jetzt genau analysieren werden. Wir haben trotz allem ein gutes Paket. Ich bin sicher, dass wir schon in Spa sehr viel besser aussehen werden.\u201c<\/p>\n

Christian Ried (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #78\/#77):<\/strong> \u201eDiese Auftaktrennen m\u00fcssen wir so schnell wie m\u00f6glich abhaken. Trotzdem \u2013 es war nicht alles schlecht in Silverstone. Die Autos waren gut vorbereitet, das haben die schnellen Rundenzeiten gezeigt. Darauf k\u00f6nnen wir aufbauen. Wenn wir dann auch noch von Problemen verschont bleiben und vielleicht noch etwas Gl\u00fcck dazukommt, werden sich auch die Erfolge einstellen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #78\/#88):<\/strong> \u201eDas war ein verflixtes Wochenende. Wenn man so kurz vor dem Ziel noch auf Podiumskurs liegt und am Ende nur Vierter wird, ist das nat\u00fcrlich zun\u00e4chst einmal entt\u00e4uschend. Wir h\u00e4tten uns alle einen erfolgreicheren Saisonauftakt gew\u00fcnscht. Trotzdem hat man in Silverstone bei allem Pech auch viele gute Ans\u00e4tze gesehen. Das macht mich sehr zuversichtlich f\u00fcr den Rest der Saison.\u201c<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi (WEC, Porsche 911 RSR #88):<\/strong> \u201eDas war das erste Rennen. Die Saison ist noch lang. Noch ist nichts verloren. Wir werden aus Silverstone die notwendigen Erkenntnisse ziehen und dann in Spa noch besser vorbereitet am Start stehen.\u201c<\/p>\n

\nDer zweite Lauf der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC wird am 7. Mai auf der belgischen Traditionsrennstrecke Spa-Francorchamps ausgetragen. Die ELMS gastiert am 15. Mai in Imola\/Italien.<\/p>\n

Die Serie<\/strong>
\nIn der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der stark besetzten Klasse GTE-Pro gegen Aston Martin, Ford und Ferrari an. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG fahren in der Klasse GTE-Am gegen Aston Martin, Chevrolet und Ferrari. Analog dazu sind in der European Le Mans Series die Klassen LMP2, LMP3 und GTE am Start. Proton Competition startet in der Klasse GTE.<\/p>\n

Silverstone<\/em> \u2013 The Proton teams experienced a start of the season with ups and downs at the opening races of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in Silverstone. They showed a strong performance for long periods with the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS on the traditional track in the British Midlands and had great chances of finishing on the podium \u2013 the goal that the teams came to the island with. In the WEC, it looked like this wish would become true. Title holder Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen were second for a long time in the GTE-Pro class with the 911 RSR of Dempsey Proton Racing. One hour before the end of the race, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG were leading in the GTE-Am class. But in the end, none of the teams managed to finish in the top three.<\/p>\n

Comments after the race<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201cThis is not how we expected the start in the new season. We were well prepared and at least expected to fight for a podium. In the WEC race, we were second for a long time after a good start. But then we had to go to the pit and fell behind far. With this, of course, we missed the chance of a podium, which we definitely had before that. Still \u2013 our 911 RSR was very well tuned and fast. The team did an outstanding job as well. Too bad it wasn\u2019t rewarded with a good result.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen (WEC, Porsche 911 RSR #77):<\/strong> \u201cAfter the good performance we showed in the qualifying, we had planned a lot for the race. But then we had a problem, which the engineers are going to analyze precisely. Despite everything, we have a good package. I\u2019m sure that we will do a lot better already in Spa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Ried (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #78\/#77):<\/strong> \u201cWe have to forget these opening races as fast as possible. Still \u2013 not everything was bad in Silverstone. The cars were prepared well, the fast lap times showed this. This is what we can build on. And if we then don\u2019t run into problems and maybe have a bit of luck, successes will come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler (WEC\/ELMS, Porsche 911 RSR #78\/#88):<\/strong> \u201cThis was a damned weekend. If you are still heading for the podium shortly before the end of the race and then only finish fourth, it\u2019s first of all disappointing, of course. We all would have hoped for a more successful season kick-off. But still, we saw many good efforts in Silverstone, despite all the bad luck. This makes me very optimistic for the rest of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi (WEC, Porsche 911 RSR #88):<\/strong> \u201cThis was the first race. The season is still long. All is not lost yet. We will learn what\u2019s necessary from Silverstone and will start even better prepared in Spa.\u201c<\/p>\n

\nThe second round of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) will take place on May 7 at the Belgian traditional race track of Spa-Francorchamps. ELMS will next be held on May 15 in Imola\/Italy.<\/p>\n

The series<\/strong>
\nIn the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), sports prototypes and GT cars start in four classes: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro and GTE-Am. They all drive together in one race, but are rated separately. Dempsey Proton Racing competes against Aston Martin, Ford and Ferrari with the Porsche 911 RSR in the strong GTE-Pro class. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG race against Aston Martin, Chevrolet and Ferrari in the GTE-Am class. Analogously, in the European Le Mans Series, the classes LMP2, LMP3 and GTE are at the start.
