Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC, 2. Lauf in Spa-Francorchamps\/Belgien<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201eWir wollen um einen Spitzenplatz k\u00e4mpfen\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spa-Francorchamps<\/em> \u2013 Die 24 Stunden von Le Mans sind auch f\u00fcr die Proton-Teams der H\u00f6hepunkt der Saison. Die Generalprobe f\u00fcr den Langstreckenklassiker in Frankreich ist traditionell das Sechsstundenrennen in Spa-Francorchamps. Der zweite Lauf der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC wird am 7. Mai auf der anspruchsvollen Traditionsrennstrecke in den belgischen Ardennen mit so legend\u00e4ren Kurven wie Eau Rouge und La Source ausgetragen. Mit dem 470 PS starken Porsche 911 RSR sind die Teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG am Start.<\/p>\n

Dempsey Proton Racing:<\/strong> F\u00fcr das Team startet Porsche-Werksfahrer Richard Lietz (\u00d6sterreich), der beste WEC-GT-Pilot 2015. Teilhaber des Teams ist Patrick Dempsey. Der US-Rennfahrer und Hollywoodstar begeistert in der Krankenhausserie \u201eGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201c immer noch Fans in aller Welt. Der zweite Fahrer im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 77 ist der d\u00e4nische Porsche-Werksfahrer Michael Christensen.<\/p>\n

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing:<\/strong> Im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 88 stellen sich Porsche-Werksfahrer Patrick Long (USA) sowie Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) in der Klasse GTE-Am der starken Konkurrenz. Als dritter Fahrer unterst\u00fctzt sie der D\u00e4ne David Heinemeier Hansson, im Hauptberuf erfolgreicher Programmierer und Autor des popul\u00e4ren Frameworks \u201eRuby on Rails\u201c.<\/p>\n

KCMG:<\/strong> Das Team aus Hongkong tritt in dieser Saison erstmals in der Klasse GTE-Am an. Neben dem erfahrenen Porsche-Werksfahrer Wolf Henzler (N\u00fcrtingen) sind im Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 78 Christian Ried (Sch\u00f6neb\u00fcrg) und der Schweizer Joel Camathias am Start.<\/p>\n

Stimmen zum Rennen<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201eDie Achterbahn in den H\u00fcgeln der Ardennen ist eine meiner Lieblingsstrecken, sehr lang und sehr anspruchsvoll. Eine echte Fahrerstrecke. Dass man in dieser Gegend immer mit einem Regenschauer rechnen muss, macht die Sache noch interessanter und spannender. Wir von Porsche lieben Regen. Wenn es nass und schwierig wird, l\u00e4uft unser 911 RSR zur Hochform auf. Aber auch auf trockener Strecke sollten wir so stark sein, dass wir um einen Spitzenplatz k\u00e4mpfen k\u00f6nnen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201eDieses Rennen ist alle Jahre wieder eine gro\u00dfe Herausforderung. Es ist der letzte H\u00e4rtetest vor den 24 Stunden von Le Mans, was bedeutet, dass alle ihre Karten auf den Tisch legen m\u00fcssen. Danach wei\u00dft du genau, wer in Le Mans deine st\u00e4rksten Konkurrenten sein werden. Ich bin zuversichtlich, dass wir in Spa erfolgreicher sein werden als in Silverstone.\u201c<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201eDas Rennen in Spa ist die Generalprobe f\u00fcr Le Mans und hat deshalb einen besonderen Stellenwert. Wer in Le Mans eine Top-Platzierung will, muss schon in Spa gut unterwegs sein. Beim Saisonauftakt in Silverstone lagen wir \u00fcber weite Strecken auf Podiumskurs. Leider hat es am Ende nicht ganz gereicht. In Spa nehmen wir jetzt einen neuen Anlauf.\u201c<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201eNach dem f\u00fcr uns ungl\u00fccklichen Saisonauftakt freuen wir uns jetzt auf Spa. Wir waren schon in Silverstone sehr stark unterwegs, wurden daf\u00fcr aber leider nicht belohnt. Ich hoffe, dass wir an diese gute Performance ankn\u00fcpfen und sie auf der anspruchsvollen Strecke in Spa in ein gutes Ergebnis umsetzen k\u00f6nnen. Wir werden jedenfalls alles versuchen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Patrick Long<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR # 88): \u201eBeim Saisonstart in Silverstone konnte ich leider nicht dabei sein. Ich bin in der World Challenge in den USA gefahren und Dritter geworden. Umso mehr freue ich mich jetzt auf Spa und hoffe, dass ich meinem Team zu einem erfolgreichen Abschneiden verhelfen kann. Im 911 RSR steckt gro\u00dfes Potenzial. Wir m\u00fcssen es nur voll aussch\u00f6pfen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Die Rennstrecke<\/strong>
\nDie Kurven der 7,004 Kilometer langen Traditionsrennstrecke in den Ardennen haben klangvolle Namen. La Source, Blanchimont und Stavelot zum Beispiel, aber vor allem nat\u00fcrlich Eau Rouge. Diese Mutkurve hat den Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps so ber\u00fchmt gemacht wie die leckeren belgischen Waffeln. Die anspruchsvolle Berg- und Talbahn weist aber noch viele weitere Schl\u00fcsselstellen auf, die den Fahrern alles abverlangen und die Herzen der Fans h\u00f6her schlagen lassen.<\/p>\n

Das Auto<\/strong>
\nDer 470 PS starke Porsche 911 RSR, mit dem die Proton-Teams in der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC am Start sind, basiert auf der siebten Generation der Sportwagenikone 911. Das Siegerauto der Langstreckenklassiker in Le Mans, Daytona und Sebring ist der schnellste Neunelfer aller Zeiten und zeichnet sich durch konsequenten Leichtbau und eine ausgefeilte Aerodynamik aus. Der 470 PS starke Erfolgsrenner wurde f\u00fcr 2016 vor allem aerodynamisch modifiziert.<\/p>\n

Live im TV<\/strong>
\nDas Sechsstundenrennen in Spa startet am Samstag, 7. Mai, um 14.30 Uhr MESZ. Eurosport \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt ab 19.00 Uhr MESZ die letzten eineinhalb Rennstunden sowie die Siegerehrung live.<\/p>\n

Die Serie<\/strong>
\nIn der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der stark besetzten Klasse GTE-Pro gegen Aston Martin und Ferrari an. In der Klasse GTE-Am fahren Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG gegen Aston Martin, Chevrolet und Ferrari.<\/p>\n

Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), Round 2 in Spa-Francorchamps\/Belgium<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to fight for a top position\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spa-Francorchamps<\/em> \u2013 The 24 Hours of Le Mans are the highlight of the season also for the Proton teams. The final rehearsal for the classic endurance race in France traditionally is the six hours race in Spa-Francorchamps. The second round of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) will take place on May 7 on the challenging traditional race track in the Belgian Ardennes with legendary corners such as Eau Rouge and La Source. The teams Dempsey Proton Racing, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing and KCMG are at the start with the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS.<\/p>\n

Dempsey Proton Racing: Porsche works driver Richard Lietz (Austria), the best WEC GT driver of 2015, starts for the team. One of the members of the team is Patrick Dempsey. The US race driver and Hollywood star still thrills fans all over the world in the medical series \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d. The second driver in the Porsche 911 RSR with starting number 77 is the Danish Porsche works driver Michael Christensen.<\/p>\n

Abu Dhabi Proton Racing<\/strong>: In the Porsche 911 RSR with starting number 88, Porsche works driver Patrick Long (USA) and Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) compete in the GTE-Am class with the strong competition. Comments about the race<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201cThe rollercoaster in the hills of the Ardennes is one of my favorite circuits, it\u2019s very long and very challenging. A real driver\u2019s track. What makes it even more interesting and exciting is that you always have to expect rain in this region. We from Porsche like rain. When it gets wet and difficult, our 911 RSR is at its best. But even on a dry track, we should be strong enough to fight for a top position.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201cThis race is a huge challenge every year. It\u2019s the last endurance test before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which means that everyone has to put one\u2019s cards on the table. After this race, you know exactly who your strongest competitors in Le Mans will be. I\u2019m optimistic that we will be more successful in Spa than in Silverstone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201cThe race in Spa is the final rehearsal for Le Mans and therefore is of special importance. If you want a top position in Le Mans, you already have to do well in Spa. At the season kick-off in Silverstone, we were heading for the podium for a long time. Unfortunately, it wasn\u2019t quite enough in the end. We\u2019ll have another go in Spa.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201cWe are looking forward to Spa after our unfortunate season opener. We were already very strong in Silverstone, but unfortunately weren\u2019t rewarded for this. I hope that we can build on this good performance and turn it into a good result on the challenging circuit in Spa. We will definitely try everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick Long<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR # 88): \u201cI unfortunately couldn\u2019t be present at the start of the season in Silverstone. I drove in the World Challenge in the USA and finished third. All the more, I\u2019m looking forward to Spa and hope to help my team with a successful performance. The 911 RSR has a huge potential. We only have to fully exploit it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The circuit<\/strong>
\nThe corners of the 7.004 kilometers long traditional race circuit in the Ardennes have illustrious names: for example, La Source, Blanchimont and Stavelot, but of course first of all Eau Rouge. This dangerous corner made the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps as famous as the delicious Belgian waffles. But the demanding uphill and downhill circuit has many other key sections which demand everything from the drivers and make the hearts of the fans beat faster.<\/p>\n

The car<\/strong>
\nThe Proton teams are going to start in the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS, which is based on the seventh generation of the iconic 911 sports car. The winning car of classic endurance races in Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring is the fastest 911 of all times and is characterized by consistent lightweight construction and sophisticated aerodynamics. For 2016, the successful racing car with 470 PS was modified especially concerning aerodynamics.<\/p>\n

Live on TV<\/strong>
\nThe six hours race in Spa will start on Saturday, May 7, at 2.30 pm CEST. From 7.00 pm CEST, the TV-channel Eurosport will broadcast the last one and a half hours of the race as well as the award ceremony live.<\/p>\n

The series<\/strong>
\nIn the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), sports prototypes and GT cars start in four classes: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro and GTE-Am. They all drive together in one race, but are rated separately. Dempsey Proton Racing competes against Aston Martin and Ferrari with the Porsche 911 RSR in the strong GTE-Pro class.
