Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC, 2. Lauf in Spa-Francorchamps\/Belgien<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201eWir wissen, wo wir f\u00fcr Le Mans ansetzen m\u00fcssen\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spa-Francorchamps<\/em> \u2013 Was f\u00fcr ein Pech: Mit dem Porsche 911 RSR des Teams Abu Dhabi Proton Racing lag Patrick Long (USA) beim Sechsstundenrennen in Spa-Francorchamps bis drei Runden vor dem Ziel auf dem zweiten Platz in der Klasse GTE-Am. Doch dann hat ihn ein Prototyp, der im Rennen keine Rolle mehr spielte, von der Strecke gerammt. Am Ende gab es vor 56.000 Zuschauern auf der Traditionsrennstrecke in den belgischen Ardennen zwei undankbare vierte Pl\u00e4tze f\u00fcr Dempsey Proton Racing (Klasse GTE-Pro) und KCMG (GTE-Am) \u2013 aber trotz allem auch wichtige Meisterschaftspunkte.<\/p>\n

Stimmen nach dem Rennen<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201eDas war das erwartet schwere Rennen. Unser 911 RSR war von der Balance her besser als im Training und im Qualifying. Doch das warme Wetter hat uns nicht in die Karten gespielt. Wir haben gek\u00e4mpft und alles gegeben, sind die ganze Zeit am Limit gefahren \u2013 trotzdem waren wir nicht schnell genug. Erst als es gegen Rennende k\u00fchler wurde, lief es etwas besser. Der vierte Platz bringt uns immerhin wichtige Meisterschaftspunkte. Jetzt richtet sich unser ganzes Augenmerk auf die Vorbereitung f\u00fcr die 24 Stunden von Le Mans. Dort wollen wir wieder die Performance zeigen, die wir von uns selbst erwarten.\u201c<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201eVor Le Mans ist jeder Rennkilometer und jeder Boxenstopp wichtig. Das ist die positive Erkenntnis aus einem Rennen, in dem wir trotz gr\u00f6\u00dftem Einsatz leider nicht das umsetzen konnten, was wir uns vorgenommen hatten. Schade f\u00fcr das Team, das uns mit schnellen Boxenstopps so gut unterst\u00fctzt hat. Jetzt arbeiten wir alle mit Hochdruck f\u00fcr Le Mans.\u201c<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201eF\u00fcr das Rennen in Spa hatten wir vieles erwartet, nur nicht Sonnenschein und fr\u00fchlingshafte Temperaturen. So sehr mich das sch\u00f6ne Wetter f\u00fcr die vielen Fans auch gefreut hat \u2013 f\u00fcr unseren 911 RSR waren das keine idealen Bedingungen. Trotzdem ist es insgesamt nicht schlecht gelaufen. Wir wissen, wo wir f\u00fcr Le Mans ansetzen m\u00fcssen. Darauf werden wir uns jetzt konzentrieren.\u201c<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201eWir haben nach dem Qualifying f\u00fcr das Rennen noch etwas an der Balance des 911 RSR ge\u00e4ndert. Das hat sich positiv ausgewirkt. Der Start war etwas hektisch, weil gleich nach der La Source ein Prototyp quer stand. Zum Gl\u00fcck kam ich aber gut durch. Ich denke, wir haben uns heute ganz gut geschlagen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88): \u201eIch kann nur hoffen, dass es das jetzt war mit dem Pech. Wenn du so kurz vor dem Ziel durch eine so dumme Aktion eines Konkurrenten den sicheren zweiten Platz verlierst, bist du nat\u00fcrlich erst einmal total niedergeschlagen. Doch das hilft uns nicht weiter. Wir m\u00fcssen den Blick nach vorne richten. Jetzt kommt Le Mans, das wichtigste Rennen des Jahres. Dort werden wir wieder angreifen. Und vielleicht haben wir ja auch mal das Gl\u00fcck auf unserer Seite.\u201c<\/p>\n

Patrick Long<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88): \u201eIch hatte eigentlich einen recht entspannten Tag. Ich bin den Start gefahren und dann erst wieder den Schlussstint. Doch da war es mit der Entspannung schnell vorbei: Ein Prototyp ist mir ins Auto gefahren, als ich kurz vor dem Ziel auf dem sicheren zweiten Platz lag. Ich kann gar nicht sagen, wie w\u00fctend und entt\u00e4uscht ich bin. Es tut mir leid f\u00fcr meine Teamkollegen Khaled und David, die ein starkes Rennen gefahren sind. Auch das Team h\u00e4tte heute auf jeden Fall ein Podium verdient gehabt.\u201c<\/p>\n

\nDer dritte Lauf der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC sind am 18.\/19. Juni die 24 Stunden von Le Mans, die auf dem Circuit des 24 Heures in Frankreich ausgetragen werden.<\/p>\n

Die Serie<\/strong>
\nIn der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der stark besetzten Klasse GTE-Pro gegen Aston Martin, Ford und Ferrari an. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG fahren in der Klasse GTE-Am gegen Aston Martin, Chevrolet und Ferrari.<\/p>\n

Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), Round 2 in Spa-Francorchamps\/Belgium<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe know what we have to do for Le Mans\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spa-Francorchamps<\/em> \u2013 What a bad luck: Patrick Long (USA) was second in the GTE-Am class with the Porsche 911 RSR of the team Abu Dhabi Proton Racing until three rounds before the flag in the six hours race in Spa-Francorchamps. But then he was hit by a prototype which didn\u2019t play a role in the race anymore. In the end, Dempsey Proton Racing (GTE-Pro class) and KCMG (GTE-Am) got two ungrateful fourth places at the traditional race track in the Belgian Ardennes in front of 56,000 spectators \u2013 but after all important championship points as well.<\/p>\n

Comments after the race<\/strong>
\nRichard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201cThis was the expected difficult race. Our 911 RSR was better than in the training and in the qualifying in terms of balance. But the warm weather didn\u2019t help us. We fought and gave everything, drove at the limit the whole time \u2013 but still, we weren\u2019t fast enough. It only became a bit better when it got colder at the end of the race. But after all, we get important championship points for the fourth place. We now totally focus on the preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There, we again want to show the performance we expect from ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77): \u201cBefore Le Mans, every raced kilometer and every pit stop is important. This is the positive realization from a race in which we unfortunately couldn\u2019t realize what we have planned to \u2013 despite biggest efforts. It\u2019s a pity for the team, which supported us that well with fast pit stops. Now we all work intensely for Le Mans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201cWe expected a lot for the race in Spa \u2013 but not sunshine and spring-like temperatures. As much as I was happy about the good weather for the many fans \u2013 for our 911 RSR, these weren\u2019t ideal conditions. After all, it didn\u2019t go bad altogether. We know what we have to do for Le Mans. That\u2019s what we focus on right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78): \u201cAfter the qualifying for the race, we made some changes concerning the balance of the 911 RSR. This had a positive effect. The start was a bit hectic because of an incident of a prototype after La Source. But luckily, I got through well. I think that we did quite well today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88): \u201cI can only hope that we won\u2019t have any bad luck any more. If you lose your sure second place just before the end of the race because of such a stupid action of a competitor, of course you are totally downhearted first of all. But this doesn\u2019t help us. We have to look ahead. Le Mans is next \u2013 the most important race of the year. We will attack again there. And maybe luck will be with us this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick Long<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88): \u201cI actually had quite a relaxed day. I drove the start and then the final stint. But then my relaxation was gone very quickly: A prototype hit my car when I was heading for the sure second place just before the end of the race. I can\u2019t tell you how furious and disappointed I am. I\u2019m very sorry for my teammates Khaled and David, who both drove a strong race. The team as well would have deserved a podium in every case today.\u201d<\/p>\n
