Le Mans<\/em> \u2013 Was f\u00fcr ein Erfolg f\u00fcr Proton Competition: Bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans \u00fcberzeugte das Team Abu Dhabi Proton Racing vor mehr als 260.000 Zuschauern mit einer konstant starken Leistung und belegte nach langer F\u00fchrung den dritten Platz in der Klasse GTE-Am. Bei der 84. Auflage des Langstreckenklassikers in Frankreich, der wegen heftiger Regenf\u00e4lle erstmals in seiner Geschichte hinter dem Safety Car gestartet wurde, teilten sich Patrick Long (USA), David Heinemeier Hansson (D\u00e4nemark) und Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) den 470 PS starken Porsche 911 RSR mit der Startnummer 88. F\u00fcr das Team war es nach 2014 die zweite Podiumsplatzierung beim h\u00e4rtesten Autorennen der Welt.<\/p>\n

\nPatrick Long<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing): \u201eEs war ein starkes Rennen von uns. Das Auto lag gut. Unser Podiumsplatz ist ein toller Erfolg, denn dies ist Le Mans, eines der h\u00e4rtesten Rennen der Welt. Ich bin unheimlich stolz auf mein Team, das nicht nur extrem professionell gearbeitet, sondern auch die Ruhe bewahrt hat, als es nicht so gut lief.\u201c<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing): \u201eEs war wieder ein fantastisches Wochenende beim gr\u00f6\u00dften Rennen der Welt. Mit etwas Gl\u00fcck h\u00e4tten wir hier gewinnen k\u00f6nnen, hatten aber in der Nacht einige Probleme. Dadurch haben wir pro Runde mehrere Sekunden verloren.\u201c<\/p>\n

David Heinemeier Hansson<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing): \u201eIn so einem Rennen Dritter zu werden, ist der Wahnsinn. Ich bin total gl\u00fccklich. Das ist heute ein H\u00f6hepunkt meiner Karriere.\u201c<\/p>\n

Richard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201eDas war ein typisches Le Mans \u2013 mit Regen, abtrocknender Strecke und herrlichem Sonnenschein. Es ist immer wieder eine tolle Herausforderung, hier zu fahren. Unser 911 RSR lief die meiste Zeit wirklich perfekt. Leider hatten wir in der Nacht ein kleines Problem mit der Antriebswelle. Bis dahin war das Setup perfekt.\u201c<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201eTrotz unserer Probleme haben wir das Maximum f\u00fcr die Meisterschaft herausgeholt. Es ist schade, denn mit dem Auto und dem Team w\u00e4re mehr drin gewesen. Le Mans war wie immer ein Erlebnis.\u201c<\/p>\n

Philipp Eng<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201eMein erstes Le Mans war richtig cool. Ich bin den letzten Stint gefahren, das war urspr\u00fcnglich nicht geplant. Doch das war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Es ist schade, dass wir den Defekt hatten, sonst w\u00e4re vielleicht ein solides Top-5-Resultat m\u00f6glich gewesen. Ich bin dankbar, dass ich hier so viele Erfahrungen sammeln konnte.“<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201eDas Ergebnis ist f\u00fcr uns in der Summe eher ern\u00fcchternd. Das Auto lief sehr gut, doch gegen Ende des Rennens haben wir nicht mehr angegriffen, um kein Risiko einzugehen. Le Mans ist das Highlight der Saison, und es ist immer wieder sch\u00f6n, hier zu fahren. Daf\u00fcr betreiben wir jedes Jahr gerne den ganzen Aufwand.\u201c<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201eWir sind stark ins Rennen gestartet und haben auch lange gef\u00fchrt. Leider hatten wir dann Probleme und mussten das Auto zweimal in die Garage zum Reparieren schieben. Damit war jede Siegchance dahin. Wir haben trotzdem weitergek\u00e4mpft und sind durchgekommen. Schon das ist hier in Le Mans eine Leistung.\u201c<\/p>\n

Joel Camathias<\/strong> (911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201eMit ein bisschen mehr Gl\u00fcck h\u00e4tten wir hier deutlich besser abschneiden k\u00f6nnen. Als wir das Problem mit dem Motor hatten, lagen wir auf Position zwei. Nat\u00fcrlich bin ich etwas entt\u00e4uscht, aber ich muss meinem unglaublichen Team danken. Ich ziehe den Hut vor den Mechanikern, die mit so viel Leidenschaft Motorsport betreiben.\u201c<\/p>\n

Marc Miller<\/strong> (911 RSR #89, Proton Competition): \u201eWir haben die Herausforderung angenommen, dieses Rennen nach dem Ausfall von Cooper MacNeil mit nur zwei Fahrern durchzustehen, und alles sah auch ganz gut aus. Dass wir anfangs zeitweise in F\u00fchrung lagen, war gro\u00dfartig. Wir waren konstant schnell unterwegs. Dann hat ein Auto vor mir K\u00fchlfl\u00fcssigkeit verloren, ausgerechnet im schnellen Turn 1 \u2013 ich kam im f\u00fcnften Gang an und hatte keine Chance. Es tut mir leid f\u00fcr das Team. Zusammen hatten wir Gro\u00dfes vor.\u201c<\/p>\n

So geht`s weiter<\/strong>
\nDer vierte Lauf der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC ist am 24. Juli das Sechsstundenrennen auf dem N\u00fcrburgring\/Deutschland. Das Team Proton Competition ist bereits am 17. Juli beim Rennen der European Le Mans Series ELMS im \u00f6sterreichischen Spielberg am Start.<\/p>\n

Die Serie<\/strong>
\nIn der Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft WEC (World Endurance Championship) starten Sportprototypen und GT-Fahrzeuge in vier Klassen: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro und GTE-Am. Sie fahren gemeinsam in einem Rennen, werden aber getrennt gewertet. Dempsey Proton Racing tritt mit dem Porsche 911 RSR in der stark besetzten Klasse GTE-Pro gegen Aston Martin, Ford und Ferrari an. Abu Dhabi Proton Racing und KCMG fahren in der Klasse GTE-Am gegen Aston Martin, Chevrolet und Ferrari.<\/p>\n

Le Mans<\/em> \u2013 What a success for Proton Competition: The team Abu Dhabi Proton Racing convinced with a constantly strong performance in front of more than 260,000 spectators at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and came third in the GTE-Am class after being in the lead for a long time. At the 84th edition of the classic endurance race in France, which for the first time in its history started behind the safety car because of heavy rain, Patrick Long (USA), David Heinemeier Hansson (Denmark) and Khaled Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi) were in the Porsche 911 RSR with 470 PS with starting number 88 together. After 2014, it was the second podium placement in the world\u2019s toughest car race for the team.<\/p>\n

Our podium is a great success, because this is Le Mans, one of the toughest races in the world. I\u2019m incredibly proud of my team, which didn\u2019t only work in an extremely professional way, but also kept cool when it didn\u2019t go that well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Khaled Al Qubaisi<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing): \u201cIt once again was a fantastic weekend at the biggest race in the world. With a bit of luck, we would have been able to win here, but we had a few problems at night. That\u2019s why we lost several seconds per lap.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Heinemeier Hansson<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #88, Abu Dhabi Proton Racing): \u201cComing third in such a race is sheer madness. I\u2019m totally happy. That\u2019s the highlight of my career today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richard Lietz<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201cThis was a typical Le Mans \u2013 with rain, a drying track and wonderful sunshine. It\u2019s again and again an amazing challenge to drive here. Our 911 RSR ran really perfectly most of the time. Unfortunately, we had a minor problem with the drive shaft at night. Until then, the setup was perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Christensen<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201cWe got most out of the race for the championship despite our problems. It\u2019s a pity, because with the car and the team, we could have done better. Le Mans was an adventure, as always.\u201d<\/p>\n

Philipp Eng<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #77 Dempsey Proton Racing): \u201cMy first Le Mans was really cool. I drove the last stint, which wasn\u2019t planned originally. But it was an unforgettable experience. It\u2019s a pity that we had the defect. Without it, maybe a solid top 5 result would have been possible. I\u2019m grateful that I was able to gain so much experience here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Ried<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201cIn total, the result is rather disillusioning for us. The car ran very well, but towards the end of the race, we didn\u2019t attack any more in order to not take any risks. Le Mans is the highlight of the season, and it\u2019s always great to drive here. That\u2019s why we willingly make these huge efforts every year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf Henzler<\/strong> (Porsche 911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201cWe started into the race very strongly and were in the lead for a long time. Unfortunately, we then got problems and had to bring the car into the garage twice to repair it. With this, our chance of victory was gone. Nevertheless, we continued to fight, and made it to the end. This alone is an accomplishment here in Le Mans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel Camathias<\/strong> (911 RSR #78, KCMG): \u201cWith a bit of luck, we could have done a lot better here. When we had the problem with the engine, we were second. Of course, I\u2019m a bit disappointed, but I want to thank my incredible team. I take my hat off to the mechanics, who work so enthusiastically for motorsports.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marc Miller<\/strong> (911 RSR #89, Proton Competition): \u201cWe faced the challenge of driving this race without Cooper MacNeil with only two drivers, and it looked quite well. It was great to be in the lead temporarily at the beginning. We were constantly fast. Then a car lost coolant in front of me, just in the fast turn 1 \u2013 I reached it in fifth gear and didn\u2019t have any chance. I\u2019m sorry for the team. We had great plans together.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s next<\/strong>
\nThe fourth round of the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC) will be the six hours race at the N\u00fcrburgring\/Germany on July 24. The team Proton Competition will already start on July 17 at the race of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in Spielberg in Austria.<\/p>\n

\nIn the Sports Car World Endurance Championship (WEC), sports prototypes and GT cars start in four classes: LMP1, LMP2, GTE-Pro and GTE-Am. They all drive together in one race, but are rated separately. Dempsey Proton Racing competes against Aston Martin, Ford and Ferrari with the Porsche 911 RSR in the strong GTE-Pro class.
