Successes at two circuits

Proton Competition’s Bavarian branch has had a successful weekend, with the team securing victories in both the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland and the 24H Series.

This year’s Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland season kicked off at Imola. With the Porsche 911 Cup, the competitors had to adapt to a new car. Proton Competition fielded five of the new cars and lined up with a strong driver line-up, led by Keagan Masters and Porsche Junior Marcus Amand.

Masters in particular put in a convincing performance on the historic Imola circuit. In a dramatic first race, he finished third. The South African was less than 0.2 seconds off second place at the end of the race. It was a good start to the 2026 season, which was further underlined on Sunday as he finished the second race in second place in front of an impressive crowd. After the first two races of the season, Masters sits second in the championship.

The newly appointed Porsche Junior, Amand, also put in strong performances at Imola. In the two races, the reigning French Carrera Cup champion finished sixth and eighth. Proton Competition also celebrated a third-place finish in the rookie standings by Dylan Yip in the first race. Yip and Daniel Ros also finished both races in the points. Gustav Bergström, however, failed to score any points over the weekend after suffering a run of bad luck.

“We are pleased with the result from Imola – Keagan finished both races on the podium and impressively demonstrated the speed of our cars. Marcus is also within striking distance of the top results. The team was also delighted with Dylan’s rookie podium finish. We will now continue to work hard and aim to establish ourselves once again among the series’ frontrunners this year,” said Michael Dirsch, who heads Proton Competition’s entry in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Germany.

At the same time, the team competed in the 12-hour race of the 24H Series at Spa-Francorchamps with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Jörg Dreisow, Manuel Lauck, Constantin Dressler and Robert de Haan – who won the German Carrera Cup with the team last year – drove the blue-and-orange Porsche in the changeable weather conditions on the Ardennes circuit.

In a memorable and controversial finale, marked by fierce battles and several incidents, the Proton Competition team won the race in the GT3 Pro-Am class following a retrospective penalty for unfair conduct towards an opponent. Overall, the car finished fifth in the general classification of the highly competitive race. After two races this season, the team occupies third place in the championship standings in the GT3 Pro-Am category.
